Tere Liye, was sung by top Bollywood singer Roop Kumar and Lata. Tere Liye means "For you" in English's word. A little sharing about this movie, "Veer-Zaara" is a 2004 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film directed by Yash Chopra. The story revolves around Veer Pratap Singh, an Indian Air Force officer, and Zaara Hayaat Khan, the daughter of a Pakistani politician. Veer is wrongly imprisoned, and a young Pakistani lawyer named Saamiya Siddiqui fights for his release. The film explores the star-crossed love between Veer and Zaara and the challenges they face due to the India-Pakistan conflict.
Yash Chopra, after a seven-year hiatus, decided to direct the film after being captivated by scenes narrated by his son Aditya Chopra. The movie was envisioned as a tribute to Punjab and was primarily shot in Punjab, Mumbai, and some parts of Pakistan. The soundtrack, based on old compositions by Madan Mohan with lyrics by Javed Akhtar, became a huge success and the best-selling album of the year in India.
Upon its release, "Veer-Zaara" became a commercial success, earning over ₹105 crore worldwide. It received critical acclaim for its story, screenplay, dialogues, soundtrack, performances, and its sensitive portrayal of India-Pakistan relations. The film is hailed as one of the greatest romantic films in Indian cinema history and addresses themes of shared Punjabi culture, secularism, and feminism.
At the 52nd National Film Awards, "Veer-Zaara" won the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. It also received numerous nominations and awards at prestigious ceremonies such as the Filmfare Awards and the IIFA Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor.
Overall, "Veer-Zaara" is a compelling love story set against the backdrop of India-Pakistan relations, showcasing the power of love and the challenges posed by societal boundaries.
